Grimoire Volume 5 Issue #32
Have any of you seen this one?  What do you think of the tabloid format?

I read the issue online- good stuff. Hopefully I'll grab my hands on a real copy sometime.

I like the variety in types of interviews. I mean not just metal bands.

Yeah, I just read the online one too. I was inconsolable when I first saw that it was filled with rehashed interviews and old reviews. But when my mom got me to stop crying (so loud) she made me realize that it was kind of a "best of" issue. She said that since it was free, it would get out to more people and potentially first time readers. So this way first timers would get an idea of what to expect from the mag. I'm still pretty bummed that it wasn't ALL new material, but I'm sure thats coming.

Re: Grimoire Volume 5 Issue #32
Thanks for the honesty.

There are some older interviews on there, like the Type O Negative, but all of the reviews are new - they may seem old to you because they were posted on this site way before they appeared in print.  I decided to make thegrimoire.com an active 'zine unto itself, not merely an archive for the mag (the original purpose of the site was to be an archive of the mag).

I am happy to see that there are a ton of shows coming up in September and October, so I will be handing out tons of Grimoires.  I will also be calling upon unholy minions, the dormant champions who once served as the dark agents of my wicked distribution.  These are the most elite of the readers who brought mountains of Grimoires to shows, tattoo shops, music shops, and other places that welcomed the fetid pages.

You will probably laugh at me for having gone to the Ozzfest.  I planned to get rid of many thousands of mags there, but ended up only giving away 500.  The event was very non-metal.  It was like going to the mall.  But there were enough real metal people there to make my arduous trip worth it.

Yesterday I went to a Leaves Eyes show in Poughkeepsie, NY.  I ended up taking home most of the Grimories I brought up.  A lot of the people there went to see a band called "Kamelot." I couldn't bring myself to stay for that band because the crowd was so immensely gay.  Again, there were some real metalheads there, and they made it worth the trip, but it was quite a culture shock for me.  Is Kamelot a christian metal band?  I'l be bringing some mags to BB King's tongiht - another Leaves Eyes show.  Incidently, Leaves Eyes will be back in 2008 and touring with King Diamond.

I've noticed a favorable reaction to the mag from people who aren't metalheads.  This phenomenon struck me as interesting when the Grmoire was newsprint and free a while ago.  I think the amusement is universal.  You don't need to know anything about the band's music in order to find the insults funny.  I'm slowly testing out the general-public places, like local bars - leaving 50 Grimoires at a time. I was hoping that some among you may have been among the lucky ones to have picked up the new tabloid version, but fear not - you will soon come upon a mountain of them.

Bill- Are you going to be at BB Kings on Tuesday? Hopefully Ozzfest hasn't accumulated a large gay crowd for this show (Nile).

One more thing about the mag as I looked through it online again. I realise it would be dumb to turn down willing advertisers, but I want to fight those faggots on the very last page.

Yes, I will be at BB King's.  I was there for Leaves Eyes and I have to say that I am continually impressed by the way I am treated at that club.  I love that place.

I might have forgotten to mention that the low-res black and white PDF has been replaced by a hi-res color one - click under MEDIA and you can have a free download.  Print what you like.

Which, among these non-metal expressions, is the most gay? (No metalhead should EVER say any of these under any circumstance - do not even read them aloud!)
