Grand Theft Auto
What would a games section be without a GTA thread?

I really don't like video games- I'm no good at them and I don't play them. Except for GTA. I am good at all GTA games and love playing them. What are your thoughts on the games? I've been playing since GTA2

GTA2- what a great game. Not only was it pure violence, but it had great gameplay and great humor.

GTA3- THis game is legendary. Looking back, this game seemed to have a certain something that none of the other 3D GTA games had. I don't know what though.

GTA VICE CITY- THis game was pretty similar, but what I loved about this game was the scenery and the plot. It definatel upped the ante for video game story telling and captured the look and feel of the 80 PERFECTLY.

GTA SAN ANDREAS- This game was not near as fun as the others. I think there was just too much to do. The fact that almost every character was black didn't help either. How can you go from organized crime dealing with big stuff like smuggling and drugs in the last to to parading around getting into territory wars? This game really opened my eyes as to how different black and white gangs are. I also hated all the "hip-hop" culture the game had. That aside, the game was rather fun.

Re: Grand Theft Auto
My first encounter was VICE CITY for XBOX, and man did I get ADDICTED!!!  It was my first experience in a game that allowed you to freely explore the environment.  After I completed the game I played around with various cheats (most games have cheat codes that can be Googled all over the place.)  My favorite cheat was ATTRACT LADIES.  I'd fire that up, steal a helicopter, and then get rushed by women, and I would get a kick out of bringing the bikini babes to the nigger areas.

I held off buying San Andreas because I heard you were a black character and that it was mostly about being a nigger. I couldn't identify with that.  I was hoping that there was a cheat that allowed you to be white, but alas, there was no cheat.  After a while I broke down and bought it, and the niggerisms weren't that bad.  It reminded my of the movie FRIDAY (or is it FRIDAYS) which I quite enjoy, but I got pissed about some of the missions having to do with spray painting.  I turned on a lot of cheats right away, like the cheats that nullify the mundane aspects, like having to eat.  Some of the new things, like eating, nigger hairdo, and stuff like that, were stupid and interfered with game play.  I also didn't like some of the graphics, like when it rained.  The whole nigger gang mentality was something I could have done without, but it was pretty easy to tune out the fact that I was playing a nigger (because the game was otherwise ok).  I enjoyed my aimless explorations, but I still liked VICE CITY much more.  But every once in a while I fire up the game, enter some cheats, and lose an hour or two of my life.  One of the cheats I favor these days is PEDESTRIANS ATTACK, or CHAOS MODE.  I steal a cop car or motorcycle and pretend to be a plain clothes cop during a full blown riot, or I just get into the chaos myslef.  There's another cheat that locks your wanted level, so if you have no stars you stay that way, and then you can go around doing anything you want.  But trespassing onto army bases still gets you chased and shot.  that's why it's good to have an invulnerability cheat on at the same time.

I didn't buy an XBOX 360 because I heard about the overheating issues, but I think that was just the first batch of consoles.  I will probably get the 360 in October because the next Grand Theft Auto is rumored to be an exclusive XBOX release.

I bought the SCARFACE game and was majorly disappointed.  Gameplay sucks, and you pretty much have to do exactly what the game wants you to do, and you can't save at any point, like you can in GTA.  Plus, you play a character who is just too powerful.  GTA is frustrating at first becasue of how easy it is to get killed, but you get better at the game.  SCARFACE doesn't promote that.  Some GTA missions felt impossible but I managed to do them all (without cheating) - it just took patience and time to develop skill and strategy.  And I like having a mortality factor - it makes everything more exciting.  The game isn't for babies.

Re: Grand Theft Auto
Funny you mentioned the pedestrians attack cheat, because I always used to LOVE in GTA3 to enter the cheats where pedestrians have weapons and then enter the pedestrians attack cheat. Once this was done, I would steal a taxi and try to deliver as many people as possible before my taxi is destroyed by the carnage ensuing on the streets.

I've been contemplating getting a 360 upon launch of GTA4, the trailer looks amazing. I find it neat how they really just made GTA3 a 3 part game. This is going back pretty old school in the series, but back when only the original GTA was out ong PS1, you had to play in Liberty City, VIce City AND San Andreas. Following tha pattern that the series has followed, it only makes sense that GTA4 is in Liberty City again.

I have found that any game that goes for the free-mode option and isn't a GTA game is generally not that good.

Re: Grand Theft Auto
I was thinking about buying one of those tiny Sony devices when LIBERTY CITY STORIES came out, but I cna't see how playing on such a tiny thing can be a good experience.  Maybe if I am stuck in a car on a long trip.  Anyway, it came out for Playstation 2 and I was hoping it would come out for XBOX - not sure if it did or not.

I haven't heard anything about the XBOX 360 version and i am just buying it on pure faith in the name.  even with my complaints about San Andreas I still had a very enjoyable experience that lasted huge amounts of hours.  Can you imagine how much fun it would be if you were playing VICE CITY online, especially if you could randomly shoot other players.  I did not play DIABLO online, but I was told that if you are brave you can play on a server in which other players can kill you (and apparently they can collect ears of dead players).  That's an option that I would like in World of Warcraft - you can't fight anyone of your own race, or group of allied races.  I would surely get killed a lot in that environment because I am more interested in the lush scenery and fun of it than actually getting into fighting expertly.  There are players who have perfected techniques and such, but that just seems like reducing a game to numbers and math.  In life I have taken the path of imagination,  Maybe that's why I will die a pauper, lol.  Anyway, I'm a bit curious what GTA 2 was like.  I had played GTA 3 but only did so after having drooled over VICE CITY.  The vehicles and weapons didn't have the same feel.  San Andreas actally had flight school and driving school, if you chose to do those things, and I learned how to use the handbrake to take on sharp turns, and then I used these new skills to play VICE CITY again.  I remember not likeing the unrealistically steep streets of GTA 3 and Sand Andreas, but again, I played lots of fun hours nonetheless.  In VICE CITY, if you take the sniper rifle and go to the ocean, kneel so that your head is underwater (find the right depth).  As long as you are actively aiming, you will see all manner of sea life.  I loved seeing sharks.  I found also that if I am in a boat it works too - just aim the rifel at teh water - but the fish are harder to see.  I was really happy when a massive shark swam under my boat.  These creatures don't really have animation.  In SCARFACE, I was so bored that I started swimming in one of the canals, and quite suddenly I was attacked by a huge shark.  Funny - that's the only thing I liked about the game.

I played DRIVER 3 (the name of the game has some stupid spelling that looks like someone with a learning disorder made the logo).  It had some fun gameplay but it was a far cry from GTA. Still, it was the only one of the clones that was worth the money.

Re: Grand Theft Auto

The GTA games I have played are very fun and, in my opinion, possibly the best video game(s) around. I started with GTA a long time ago, back when it was on computer and the original Playstation, and also GTA 2. Then I got into Liberty City and then very much into Vice City. I have not played San Andreas for the all the above stated reasons, mainly that of too much nigger shit. But I am very interested in the newer one, Liberty City Stories. I love the original and thought GTA 2 was awesome. And Liberty City was and is badass. Vice City seemed like an expansion of liberty city...better all around with more shit to do, larger maps and so forth. So I was wondering if Liberty City Stories uses the advances made in Vice City, but goes back to Liberty city with more missions, variety, better graphics and so on. All the cheat codes make playing the game very fun. I ran 2 games, one a played without cheat codes and trying to complete all the missions. The other I used cheat codes all the time and just fucked around. These are fun fucking games.

Re: Grand Theft Auto
Oh yeah. Has anyone tried out the game GUN? If so, what did you think? It looked fucking awesome to me and a friend bought it a while ago. We beat the whole game in a day. It was very similar to GTA, but did not have as much depth, detail and complexity. I think if they put more time into this game, giving it more missions, more interactions, bigger maps and more towns and other shit like that it could be a very awesome fucking game.

Which, among these non-metal expressions, is the most gay? (No metalhead should EVER say any of these under any circumstance - do not even read them aloud!)
